Welcome to Georgia English Language Arts Educator Forum: Grades 6-8

This Wiki is for Georgia middle school teachers to find, share, and discuss resources from around the state. Please share any resources that are helping your students meet the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards.

The GaDOE team hosted a series of professional learning opportunities during the summer of 2014. The summer academies entitled, "Teachers: Classroom Change Agents," featured a two-day-long series of workshops showcasing educators from across the state. To access academy materials, visit our ELA Summer Academy 2014 Wiki.

2013-2014 Instructional Materials:

The middle school unit revisions for the first unit of each grade level have been posted. It is your responsibility to review all materials before purchasing any books or teaching the lessons. These lessons are not required by the GaDOE and are only intended as an additional resource to support you in your classroom. Please check each grade level landing page for continued posting of new materials. You may access those grade level pages in the menu to the left, or by clicking on the link below. The original 2012-2013 Sample Unit Frameworks are also available for your review.
We welcome revised or new units that systems may wish to share, and we also recommend that you check out some of the excellent unit plans and lessons available through our partner Common Core states. All resources are provided simply for your reference and evaluation; none are required or mandated.

  • It is your responsibility to investigate materials to determine their value and appropriateness for your district.
  • GaDOE does not endorse or recommend the purchase of or use of any particular resource found on this site.
  • Again...this page is a working [[#|collaboration document]]. Teachers are encouraged to share materials. No lesson is perfect. However, the thinking of others can help other figure out new ways to think and synthesize. Our goal is to empower one another.
